10 Essentials You Should Have In Your Purse This Summer

Posted on

Summer is here. That means it’s time for pool parties, barbeques, fruity drinks, and really anything that’ll allow you to spend time in the sun. And even though it’s hot as heck outside, you’re probably more on the go during these summer months than any other time of year. Everyone’s out of school and ready to have fun! Which means, it’s important for your purse to have everything you need for the day…and the night. You don’t want to have to slow done just because you’re not prepared. Here are the 10 essentials you should have in your purse this summer:

Moisturizer (The Right Kind)

In order to stop the sun from drying up your skin, you need to make sure you’re moisturizing throughout the day — not just in the morning! Whether you’re sweating from the humidity or the dry heat, these summer months will no doubt cause you to shower more. Take this time to both clean and moisturize your skin. When your face is damp, apply a water-based moisturizer to keep your skin soft and hydrated. Just make sure you’re picking the right kind of moisturizer for your skin (i.e. if you have acne-prone skin you should always look for the word “hypoallergenic”).

Hairbrush

Whether you maintain your hair’s amazing look with a hairbrush or a comb, make sure you have one of those in your purse, even if it’s a small one. The heat and humidity might be a nice reprieve from the cold, but it’ll ruin your hair. I’m talking about waves, knots, and unwanted fizziness. Make sure you’re never far from a tool that’ll keep your hair looking SNATCHED (aka good!) at all times.

Hair Ties

Speaking of hair, you should always have hair ties in your purse. Mainly because those things are so easy to misplace and knowing you always have one in your bag will give you peace of mind. Oh, and because it’s hot outside. You’re going to want to put your hair in a messy bun at least two times a day. Make sure you’re using a hair tie that’s not going to pull out your hair and leave it dry and brittle. Use a scrunchie as a hair tie to keep your hair healthy!

Perfume

Buy yourself a rollerball perfume. These small, delicious-smelling must-haves will keep you fresh all day long. Are you going straight from work to dinner and don’t have time to stop by your place to freshen up? All you’ll have to do is take out your rollerball perfume and roll some onto your neck. And BAM! You’ll smell so good people will think you just got out of the shower.

Feminine Products

As a woman, you should ALWAYS have a feminine product with you. You just never know when mother nature is going to come. And you never know when you’re going to be with a friend who might need something ASAP. Be that friend who’s always prepared. Kind of like a mom, but a cool mom!

Makeup

Okay, so I don’t think you should have all of your makeup in your purse every single day. Especially since it’s so easy for makeup to melt in the heat. All you really need is mascara, blush, and chapstick (and maybe removable makeup wipes). Honestly, those three things can easily help touch up your look and make sure your face looks maintained even on the sweatiest of days!

Cash

I know everything is electronic nowadays, but you never know when you might need cash. Believe it or not, there are places (restaurants, stores, etc.) that only want consumers to pay with cash. Plus, paying with cash can help you keep better track of your money and how much you’re spending. And do you really want to be out and about with your debit and credit cards? No!!! Stick with cash and save yourself the hassle of having to keep up with your plastic.

Portable Charger

Because most phones can’t keep a charge all day, you should definitely make sure you’re always in reach of a charger. The only way to do that, however, is by keeping a portable charger in your purse at all times. You have room in your purse, right? Always keep the charger in there so you don’t have to worry about forgetting it at home or at work or at friends.

Mints/Gum

Fresh breath is very important and since walking around with a toothbrush in your purse is kind of dramatic, mints and gum will have to do. All you have to do is grab a few packs at the grocery and you’ll be stocked for quite a long time. Trust me, gum comes in handy when you least expect it. You never know who you might run into throughout the day.

Sunglasses

Sure, sunglasses are trendy and can completely transform a look. But they’re also a must for your eyes. Wearing sunglasses protects you from the sun’s harmful rays and can help you lower your chances of getting eyelid cancer (yes, that’s a thing) and the possibility of getting a sunburn…on your eyes. Protect your eyes and look amazing by making sure sunglasses are always in your purse!
