11 Hacks To Get The Most Out Of Your Weekends

Posted on

Everyone loves the weekends! What’s not to love, right? You’re off work and you can do whatever you want to do. The only issue with weekends is that they go by SO fast. You blink and it’s Sunday night and you have to get ready to go back to work on Monday. Instead of letting the weekend fly by without feeling like you really did anything, use these 11 hacks to make sure you get the most out of your weekends:

Make A Plan

Having a plan for the weekend will ensure you get the most of out of your free days! You don’t want to be sitting at home Friday night wishing you had somewhere to go. Communicate with your friends as early as Wednesday to put some activities on the books! But don’t make too many plans. It’s crucial you have some time for yourself as well.

Don’t Waste The Mornings

A lot of people waste the weekend mornings by doing absolutely nothing! They get up, eat breakfast, and binge watch something on Netflix until it’s 4 pm. Don’t be that person. I know it might be tempting but you’re typically at your most energetic in the morning — don’t waste that energy. Go outside, do something active, or get brunch with your friends.

Try Something New

Whether that’s a DIY project or a new recipe, spice up every weekend by trying something new. Let’s be real, Monday-Friday are typically very hectic days. You don’t usually have time to really focus on making an elaborate dinner for yourself or creating a photo album. I’m not saying you should be overwhelmed on the weekend but definitely let your creative juices flow.

Talk To A Friend

Odds are, a good amount of your friends have moved away. Don’t let the distance between you guys get in the way of how often you chit-chat. Make time during the weekend to keep in touch with the friends who no longer live right around the corner. And I’m not just talking about sending a few texts. FaceTime each other, talk on the phone! Set a time to really have a one-on-one session with your BFFs.

Don’t Do A Lot Of Chores

The weekends are for having fun, not for spending the majority of your time vacuuming and cleaning your bathroom. No no no. Get your chores done during the week so you won’t have to do a ton of menial tasks Saturday and Sunday.

Don’t Forget To Exercise

With a hectic schedule during the week, you might find it difficult to make time to exercise. If you can’t get to the gym during the weekdays, try to get there during the weekend. Not only will you burn calories, you’ll also feel good. As you know, exercise releases endorphins which will help keep you relaxed and stress-free. An absolute must during the weekends!

Go Somewhere

It’s easy to get caught up in a routine on the weekends. Especially if you leave those days for certain tasks: laundry, cleaning up the house, buying groceries, etc. Do your best to avoid falling into the same old routine every weekend. Switch it up a little. Go somewhere different a couple weekends a month so you can change your scenery. Whether that means taking a plane ride up north or driving two hours east; get a little perspective every now and again.

Enjoy Sundays

People hate Sunday because it reminds them of Monday. I get it. But, hating Sunday gives the day too much power. Don’t let Sunday control you — instead, make it a day you absolutely love. Host a game night with friends, have your family over for dinner, or just spend the day pampering yourself with face masks and a good meal.

Take A Break From Technology

Let’s be honest here, you know you spend a good amount of time on social media during the week. What are you doing during your lunch, your afternoon breaks, or when you’re laying in bed trying to go to sleep? Scrolling through Instagram and Facebook, right? Do your best to put your technology away for a little bit during the weekend. Give yourself a real rest!

Spend Time Doing Things You’ve Been Neglecting

What are some things you wish you did more of? Reading? Cook dinner? Swimming? Going on an adventure? Whatever it is you’ve been neglecting, make time for it during the weekends. Even if you only have a few minutes, you can spend time doing the things you’ve always wanted to do (or at least putting a few plans into action).

Set Goals

You might not want to even think about work on the weekend. No one does. But setting a few plans for yourself on Sunday will help you start the week off right. Take a look at your calendar, make sure you know what you have to get done that week and set a few goals for yourself so you’re 1) better organized for the week and 2) have something to strive for.
